Ugh...

Vanished off the scene for a week for some intense holiday stuff with the family both real and "adopted". Worked some on the Print O wave had some tech issues (paying attention has not been my strong suit recently) and frogged back but I am back on track ( thank goodness). Got some knitting type gifts from the boy ... He is good lemme tell ya. I was drooling over some lace books and shawls on the blogs... He went out with no assistance and got 2 lace books A Gathering of Lace and Victorian Lace Today and prepaid audible for me... Just needed to brag a wee bit about him... Gonna knit a bit more then bed time .

What I have Learned...

Today was a learning day all around for me. I will now share these lessons with you in list form....
1. Blo**er hates me ( it eats my post and pictures just before I can actually hit publish)
2. Target the weekend of Christmas = Scariest place around
3. When knitting a lace shawl with a chart mark line by line per repeat... (only a minor attention problem this time)
4. When you buy new stitch markers it helps to not leave them laying around because said markers are actually stuff for the tool box ( people love to "help " me put stuff away.
Decided on the Print O Wave shawl in Alpaca silk ( can we say yummy) . hopefully will have a pic tomm that doesnt look like hair ball ( highly crunkly right now ) Must knit more and watch some mindless shows .

Help...

Instead of working more on my clappy which I really wanna do I am stuck looking for something a little dressier to go over this
Isnt it lovely..... What you are missing is the "fantastic" envelope detail in the back.... needless to say for a wedding in January I am going to need something to throw over my shoulders even indoors. This leads me to my problem I would like a shawl that is lacy but i think I want it to be a rectangular shawl though the Diamond Fantasy Shawl might be cute if it was black and maybe some sparkle too.... Another option would be Print O Wave Shawl. Tonight at the Knit and Nog I am gonna have to investigate some yarny options cause the best part is I need this by the 21st of January... This is the Amazing Lace and the Knitting Olympics all rolled up into one... Wish me luck ....

She's back

So much for posting everyday ... But I really needed a break not from knitting but from trying to write about it ....
Scout asked for cooking disasters so here are two ... One recent and one not so.
The recent one was me cooking tortilla soup. The recipe tells you to cook a whole bunch of ingredients and then take the piping hot soup and put it in the blender. So being the good girl I am (::snort::) I did as it says. My blender has some issues with staying closed, but I seemed to forget this when I was cooking (my desire for tortilla soup was too great). I poured a batch of the mixture in the blender and hit blend ... I had hot, red , tortilla soup all over me. Never one to give up I decided to try again with a hand blender. SO not better, I was wearing this soup. I was a woman possessed I needed to make this soup. Ran out to buy a new blender that does not have closing issues ( gotta love Targets hours) finally I got my soup.
Story number 2 was I got it in my head that I was gonna make 2 different pies from scratch on Thanksgiving. As I have mentioned sometimes my family stresses me out A LOT!!! Well some people (who shall remain nameless) decided to get underfoot while I was taking pies out of the hot oven in my tiny kitchen with no oven mitts. Of course down went my pie... I was in tears. Never again... The rule that came out of this one was no one may come in the kitchen if I am cooking...
Will be back later with some clapotis pics ( she is SO pretty and soft)

Calmer?!?

I need some calm right now... Clapotis is coming along really she is. I am kinda debating how big I wanna make her. I am also thinking I need to invest in a winter coat... this one is definately an option.
not nessecarily a real winter coat but for a girl who generally runs around in a sweat jacket or a fleace this might be ok ... it helps that it will look really cute with clapotis. ( ok that might be whyI picked this color but I am soo not gonna tell anyone that)

Sleepy Knitting

clap is coming along. I really want to be finished already cause I wanna wear it now. I am kinda sleepy and my candle is flickering and smelling quite pretty (pumpkin spice , incidentally a good flavor in coffee as well) Definately need to pick up some little rings at the hardware store for stitch markers. This is a random post with no special cohesive thoughts so i am gonna end here ...

If your happy and you know it...

CLAP your hands. The clapotis is coming along after a minor pitfall I am back on track. I have this lil problem , I sometimes lose track of rows and can not figure out where I am. I have a kacha kacha thing but it is constantly lost and frankly I don't always remember to click it. Enter Turtlegirl her little row counter thing saved me. So last night after I had to frog (::cringe::) almost to the beginning I decided to whip up one of these 37 beads later ( I did 12 rings for each line in the section) well it helps cause it hangs right there. No thinking necessary which is just the way I like it. Definitely helped. Camera is having a battery issue so no pics of this genius invention today. Side rant I hate my digital camera.... The battery life is incredibly lousy it uses 2 AA batteries and drains them in like 12 pictures this camera is so on notice.

Happy Birthday Granny...

Not so much to say today... Had a birthday party for the grandma where there was plenty of weirdness and at least one too many cakes, but that's another story for my complaining blog (oh wait I guess this one is that too.) long story short there are certain people in my family who don't believe in family for family sake. Instead they only are interested in family for"photo opps" and btw any big occasion is an op. I can not stand these people nor can I stand the way any others treat them... When they are around they are treated like returning war hero's but when they are not everyone sees them for what they are. I say the hypocrisy is flipping confusing and I have had just about enough of it. I am tired , tired of these people and tired of these lies.
however this is a knitting blog and that is one of the only things that is holding on to my sanity. (that has been a recently debatable fact, my sanity) Hopefully I will have some Clappy pics tomm.

Horse Blinders...

Yeah ok so my next purchase is gonna be some horse blinders (ooh maybe I can knit them a cozy...) So the Malabrigo is for Clapotis ( not worth linking everyone in the universe has made one already) Add that to the cast aside blue sky shawl and my icarus which I have swatched for and you can see my dilemma. So of course I go online this morning and see THIS. Really NOT Helping. Must go find those blinders or at least make clapotis so I can wear it as a veil... Maybe that would help.

Trying to get out of funk and back to FUNKY!

After seeing this knitalong all over the blog world I decided to join Stranded Knitalong on the blog they have 2 questions here are some answers.
What are your projects for this knitalong? I am going to attempt Eunny's Endpaper Mitts hopefully they can look a quarter as good as everyone elses!!

Is this your first colorwork project? If it isn't, what was your first, and has it survived the test of time?I have never done a colorwork project before so this might be more of a challenge then I can do but with no time limit and lots of support hopefully I can do this.
The plan is to go to the SnB tommorrow night and while I am there I might need to make a couple of purchases (wink wink nod nod) retail therapy is soo good for the soul. Tune in tomm for more.

Blue Tuesday...

Life is kinda catching up and the depression is back with a vengeance. There hs been a brick sitting in my chest for the longest time. The meds are starting to help but I wish they would help soo much faster. I really really wanna be alive again, not in this kind of fog that goes between kinda ok and just soo not there. If I could pinpoint a way to feel better like really really better I would do it. Knitting help which always amazes me, but even that is in a funk right now. If it takes more then an hour from start to finish , like the votive holders, I am so not interested. Compound the normal depression with the fact that this season stresses and depresses me and you can see where I am at this point. I definitely need some fun like real true fun and hope that it will at least temporarily snap me out of this. I think I will tun in for now because joy of joys the depression also exhausts me... Magic cure (I wish)
Peace out

Just another...

... Manic Monday. Tired as all get out. Spent the day cleaning and trying to straighten out the health insurance debacle (just sooo not worth talking about, suffice to say my insurance company s run by the children of the corn I am quite convinced. Cleaned out ye olde car and found some of the oddest stuff ever like a pink coach purse I have been looking for forever. Just saying but that car is like the black hole, I am convinced by the time I finish cleaning the trunk out I will find every missing sock on north america ( you know they had to go somewhere, I just suggest it may be my car. At some point last week I joined the From the stacks challenge but never got around to posting the books of choice, so since I have zilcho in the crafting venue I'll blather about that.
1. Fear of Flying- Erica Jong
2.Atlas Shrugged- Ayn Rand
3. Feeling good Handbook- David D. Burns
4. Daniel Deronda- George Eliot
5. Moll Flanders- Daniel Defoe
I am pretty excited because most of these books have been sitting on the shelves for quite some time. Hopefully this challenge will quick my butt to read these books that I really DO wanna read. With that I am gonna curl up with a good book and call it a night.

Photo Rich post ahead

... but thats ok because it is severely content poor. So whats new for this blog. As I said yesterday I took a little trip down to the Rag Shop and I bought a few things....

To make this

Those are the placematts from Amy Butlers new book... it's awesome if you haven't seen it.

I also picked these up for the same project

For full disclosure i also bought these to make more votive holders.

For some actual knitting content I made another votive holder which I love I think I am gonna call it Christmas lights 'cause thats totally what it reminds me of...

I think thats all I've got in me got some serious crafting to get to. Peace out for now...

day 2

not too much to say today... spent family time and had an indoor picnic. went to rag shop ot pissed off with employees there then bought some fabric and interfacing to make some placemats from the Amy Butler book which should be a cool christmas gift for the best friend... fabric and camera are both currently locked in the car so there will be plenty of pics tomm or some of todays stuff. Picked up some sushi for dinner tonight but the guy put the wasabi in my fave roll and my kishkes almost got burnt out so that was altogether unpleasant. seeing as how I cant put together one sentence I am gonna hit the hay. Peace out

The weather outside is frightful...

Sometimes appropriate titles just kinda appear in my mind and today this one is perfect... this east coasst weather is gonna kill me. Today is december 1st I need to get my butt moving on the holiday stuff. My plan for this weekend is at least a couple more beaded votive holders ( those things are like pringles I swear) and some x-mas cards... seeing as they are not even in my posession yet might be a challenge to get them sent out by tomm evening ( or at least ready for thhe post). I got annoying news today that I have no more Greys until January... however this does mean I can go to S&B at Modern Yarn on thursdays so that might be fun... I am gonna hit the hay early tonight so, Peace out ...
