Bravery... and PIF

This is the first REAL blog entry in so long ... This may be a real new years post just 10 days late ( I hate being late to the party) ... I have been playing with a new blog behind the scenes for a bit now and I think it is almost ready ( I'll let you all know when it is). I decided to challenge myself to a bunch of new things too. I am trying to post a pic a day for a year... I really want to explore photography as a new medium I am so inspired by so many peoples photos and would love to learn more about it. I am also trying to do 101 in 1001 (101 tasks in 1001 days). One of the things I am planning to do is be more brave and to play with other crafts I enjoy so with that in mind I am gonna Pay it Forward .. I am lucky enough to be receiving from knitter/ sewing chick extraordinaire 'Chelle.

Happy thanksgiving!! Spent the last 2 days in cooking hell but I think I have found the recipe for the perfect apple cake. I will post the recipe and pics later....

I missed a day so much for nanoblopo whatever... My tush is being kicked right now in a bunch of different directions so posting daily just isn't possible ( and posting to say I am alove and tired would get boring for you). I think I may be a cheater... I just semi panicked because I didn't post today. As I haven't gone to sleep yet and it is still the 11th on the west coast I think this should count... Went shopping for a new digi cam today and may have found something just need to read a few more reviews ( I am such a crazy I have to read every review.)

I made soap today, Really pretty and yummy smelling soap. It's chamomile with oats inside. This was such fun I definately am gonna be doing this again. This is going to be the favor for my sisters shower it should be really cute!!!

Posting everyday is hard... I am not that interesting a person. No seriously. Though the one thing I have to say is I have been drooling non stop over Oblique I have even contemplated a yarn sub as the angora / mohair will kill me. For a non sweater knitter I have been coveting / knitting a lot of sweaters. Any suggestions about yarn or more topics let me know in the comments....

subtitled... Teachers are nice.
Teachers convention was actually quite fun. We stayed in a little hotel with a jacuzzi (amazing). the convention itself was pretty cool got to meet lots of people including more then a few knitters one of whom was wearing a most fabulous sweater of her own making (no I didn't take a pic I seemed to develop camnesia in its presence) Made some progress on the Minimalist cardigan. The highlight of my day was seeing the knitty extra surprises let me just say the next sweater this non sweater knitter is making is Oblique simply amazing though I must find a sub for that yarn I think the mohair will make me choke, while you are over there look at Miriam's new lacy wrap totally fab. The old queue is getting scary.

meet me tonight in Atlantic City... Taking off for a day or two for teachers convention ( I think this is a Jersey thing ). Should be some excellent R&R time (oh and k for knitting since I don't gamble). Hopefully I'll have tons of progress to show you tomorrow.

Looking into making soap logs or maybe bath bombs anyone have any experience making this kind of stuff?? I have done the little melt and mold soaps but thats about it, so hopefully someone has some tips for me!!

Not much to say today... the sis and I decided to play a bit so we baked cookies (which did notlive long enough to see a camera I am sorry to say.) While we were doing this I realize how much fun we do have together (esp. without the wedding) I sometimes forget when she went from being an annoying little sister to this cool chick .... just thought I would put this out there ... Thats all for now. More tomorrow.

As I needed a sick day activity I spent the day making pumpkin butter. This was not the first time I've made the butter but it is the first time I've tried "canning", I'm exhausted. Oh and the kitchen is kind of a mess. More tomorrow...

Rant ahead... read with caution. People who are sick should not come and visit people who have recently come out of the hospital. Just a hunch but usually thats something that weakens ones immune system. Suffice to say someone did that to us (my grandma was recently discharged post hip surgery , yes she is better) . My whole family is now sick with some cold-ish bug!! yuck. On the plus side My cardigan has grown immensely since this photo taken this morning and there have been plenty of good movies on today. Here's to hoping my head doesn't float off (would clink tea cups with someone but I don't wanna pass this any further).

ETA... I just did this whole post from flickr thing and well it totally rocks!! Have I been under a rock for awhile or is this a new feature???

After just over two months silence I'm back. There may not have been blogging but there has been knitting and there are definitely some finished objects waiting for their photo shoot (oh yes because I have also adopted a case of camnesia). I decided to recharge the old blogging batteries by joining NaBloPoMo. For material I joined NaKniSweMo, I am knitting the Minimalist sweater(rav link). The plan is to buy some yarn tonight at Snb (wow have I missed you ladies). Tune in tommorrow for the next post... Same time same channel.

I did not mean to go silent for so long but there has been so much going on. I had anticipated a long post but that will have to wait one more day. You see, I got news today, the kind of news you just don't want to hear , a dear friend of mine has passed on. She was too young, a high school friend of mine, and so sweet. She was the kind of person you could always count on for a smile no matter what... I never meant to allow so much time to pass since we last spoke and I never thought the next I would hear was of her passing. S.H. you may be gone but you will surely not be forgotten.

The moment I finished my monkeys I casted on a plain generic sock in some Jitterbug... however it bored me (after monkey I was itching for another lace fun thing). I have been wanting to try the Anastasia socks (from Pepperknit) and it is so cute. Just enough to break up the variegated... Summer of Socks is hitting me in a big way.

Today was a banner day for me I haven't had a hair cut in like a year (literally) so I finally took the plunge and did it. This weekend is the sisters engagement party (pics to follow especially of the goldfish well you'll see) Be back soon....

Mods: I knit them toe up cause well I hate the kitchener stitch. Subtracted one repeat in the leg and swapped heel for a short row. I love these socks they fit like a glove!!

oh my I have wanted to post this since Thursday but I couldn't and then the camera has been doing weird stuff (read odd pics at best) so I am gonna post this without pics and then hopefully I'll add some photos later. My pal sent me some amazing pink teal sock yarn and favorite knitted socks (the interweave sock book) some spinning fiber and a tote bag from Maryland. oh and some cottony yarn which may become a tank top... there may have also been some chocolaty goodness but you wouldn't be able to find that anymore!! THANKS so MUCH pal I can't wait to find out who you are so I can better thank you (hopefully some photos will follow all this) . As an aside if anyone has some camera recommendations they would be much appreciated my only requirement is it uses secure digital memory cards... thanks

there has been some bad knitting juju in these parts but I am working to remedy the problem immediately.... I started a new sock from Knitting Vintage socks (childs first sock ) in some Louet Gems I think I am gonna use this pattern for my sockapalooooza pal but this one is just a practice one. I picked up Interweave crochet after seeing granny bags popping up all over. I like that its cute and a lil kitchy and I think it'll be a cute summery bag so I have to get some yarn for that (yeah I know that took a lot of persuasion). I think I have blathered on enough for tonight so... Be back soon (hopefully with some pics and the reason the knitting mojo may have been lost )
